Land and property | Queensland Housing Investment Growth Initiative

The Queensland Housing Investment Growth Initiative (QHIGI) provides opportunities for property purchase or development, through the QuickStarts Qld and Housing Investment Fund initiatives, to capitalise on a range of land opportunities to increase housing supply. This includes land that is:

  • owned by a proponent or has an option to buy in place
  • owned by the Queensland Government, leased to a registered community housing provider and suggested as a suitable development site by a proponent, through the procurement process
  • owned by the Queensland Government and marketed as a QHIGI land opportunity.

If you have a parcel of land or property that you own, or have an option on, and would like to submit it as part of a proposal, please complete the pre-lodgement form.

If you have identified land or property you would like us to consider, but don’t own or have an option on it, please let us know via the ask the team option and we will contact you.

Land opportunities will be offered to market progressively with the first tranche of sites now available through QuickStarts Qld.

We are seeking proposals which include a social housing component equal to or greater than the total funding contribution by the State, which includes the market value of the land as well as any additional capital grant funding as the State’s primary contribution.

These first 2 land offerings are available as priority projects under QuickStarts Qld. If successful, you must enter into a capital funding agreement with the State before 30 June 2022.

To participate in this first land release, please:

Queensland Government-owned land offers are subject to a competitive assessment. We will comparatively assess all conforming proposals on the same parcel of land that we receive by the nominated closing date. Please note: mandatory eligibility requirements are in place.

Land opportunities will also be advertised on QTenders as they become available.

Make sure you register to receive updates as land opportunities are released.

Strategic purchase opportunities

Current housing market conditions, such as land availability or construction demands, may impact our ability to respond quickly to housing need through developments. QuickStarts Qld can purchase a limited number of properties to boost supply where they may substantially benefit the local housing portfolio by addressing emergent need.
