Proposed Arundel Hills temporary local planning instrument

We are seeking feedback on the working draft Arundel Hills temporary local planning instrument (TLPI) that we are preparing in response to Queensland housing supply issues and the government’s Homes for Queenslanders plan to deliver more homes faster.

We have prepared the working draft of the proposed TLPI for the former Arundel Hills Country Club site (located on land described as Lot 18 of SP231562 and Lot 21 on SP144763). This site closed in 2022.

The disused private landholding of 67 hectares provides great opportunities for:

  • new housing supply within an existing urban area with access to infrastructure and services
  • rehabilitation of the former private golf course
  • sports facilities for public use.

The Gold Coast local government area is growing rapidly. ShapingSEQ 2023 has set housing supply targets for the Gold Coast at:

  • 334,200 dwellings by 2031
  • 433,100 dwellings by 2046.

To achieve these targets, the Gold Coast area must deliver more houses.

The TLPI is an opportunity to better align the current local planning framework and zoning at the former Arundel Hills Country Club to be consistent with ShapingSEQ.

While the Planning Act 2016 doesn’t require us to consult on a TLPI, we want to hear the community’s view of the proposed TLPI to help inform the draft.

Online consultation opened on Monday 22 July 2024 and closed Friday 2 August 2024.
