A First Nations Housing and Homelessness Action Plan 2024–2027

Everyone has a right to a safe and secure home.

The Queensland Government is working with First Nations peoples to co-design Our Place: A First Nations Housing and Homelessness Action Plan 2024-2027. Together we can find housing solutions for all Queenslanders to thrive.

All Queenslanders should have access to a safe and secure home, but a gap still exists for First Nations peoples. Historic dispossession and discrimination have taken away First Nations peoples’ ability to build financial stability, and family and community resources. Conditions in the national housing market—including increased construction costs, trades shortages and reduced rental affordability—are making closing the gap even more challenging.

We want to make sure solutions are community-driven, evidence-based and tailored to meet the unique needs in urban, regional, discrete, and remote First Nations communities.

Housing solutions will be informed by the voices of First Nations people who live in these communities.

What we want to know

We want to know:

  • what housing challenges you face now
  • how we can help your community
  • what the new action plan should focus on.

How to get involved

Have your say by completing this survey.

You can also attend a face-to-face Yarning Circle or Share your truth.

The survey closes at 5pm on 25 July 2023.

Organisations can make a written submission by 5pm on 25 July 2023.
